About Contributing Activities

The SMILE library of hands-on science and math activities relies on our partners, grantees, and collaborators contributing their high-quality resources to SMILE.

We have a variety of tools and resources for people thinking of contributing to SMILE and also for those already in the process of cataloging.

Collection Quality Guidelines tell you more about what kind of activities SMILE is looking for.

SMILE FAQs include answers to questions such as 'Why would I want to contribute resources to SMILE?' and 'If I already have metadata, how would I get my resources into SMILE without cataloging each record individually?'

Test drive our online cataloging tool (aka the NCS). Log in as a guest and poke around. Don't worry--you can't break anything. When you contribute activities to SMILE, this is the tool you'll use.

Check out the SMILE Cataloging Guidelines for details on how to fill out each field of our cataloging tool. The Guidelines can be accessed from within the SMILE cataloging tool or directly from the web.

Use the Editing Checklist to help you review a cataloger's work.

Email our Cataloging Help Desk to schedule a one-on-one phone help session. Make sure to tell us in the email what you'd like help with.

Have an activity you think should be in SMILE, but don't want to catalog it yourself? Fill in the short Suggest a resource form, and we'll take a look.
