In this activity, learners will "paint" their own crystal artwork by creating a picture with a super saturated salt solution. After brushing the solution on black construction paper, the water will evaporate leaving the salt crystals behind. Activity includes step-by-step instructions with example crystal paintings, an explanation of what is happening, and suggested activity extensions. A diagram showing different crystal shapes and information on how crystals connect to everyday life is also included.
