Quick Questions: Create a Survey

In this activity, learners will conduct an open-ended survey, and then organize and analyze results. What languages does everyone speak? What’s the most common? the least common? Do you think we’d get the same results if we asked this question in a different neighborhood? Start out by posing an open-ended question. Everyone writes answers on stick-on notes and sticks them on a large piece of paper. Explore ways to organize the responses to make sense of them. For instance, if the question is about languages, one approach is to put all the stick-on notes with the same language together.
